Q + A

Why Colombia?

Well multiple reasons: 1) JuanSe is half Colombian (his mother and Ecuadorian father grew up and met there) 2) Tara and JuanSe have always dreamed of a beach wedding 3) We both chose a venue that would cater to a private group and allow us to have family and friends spend the most time together for a week. 4) Our ceremony will be held by the leader of a local indigenous group in Tayrona. This is unique and will be expressing our love for Mother Nature. 5) The political situation in Ecuador makes it dangerous to travel to the coast.

What will the weather be like?

Warm and breezy. Average is 71-80 F or 21-26 C with an average humidity of 80%. The breeze does help, however this may sometimes make the ocean waves a bit rough. It is located slightly above the equator so the sun will be strong with a high UV index.

Is there a dress code?

Please plan on wearing fabrics light in color and weight for the ceremony for your own comfort. Colorful, floral, or fun is encouraged. The ceremony and reception will be on the beach - plan footwear (optional) accordingly.

What do we do next after we decide we are coming?

Tara or JuanSe will reach out to go over logistics with you. We know that there are a lot of moving parts but we will walk you through it. We will discuss flights and then hotel options that would best suit your needs. All attendees will get an itinerary for the week with all the scheduled activities. We want to make this as smooth and easy as possible for everyone. Please make sure to RSVP as soon as possible - at the latest August 31st.

What else can I do in Colombia?

Some of you may be traveling far distances to join us. We encourage you to extend your trip and explore this beautiful country. Explore the wildlife, colonial cities, hike the mountains, or enjoy the vibrant culture. A few days before is Carnival and is a big attraction in Barranquilla (a nearby city). Or stay longer in Santa Marta - we will have limited time in the small city itself.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! Children of all ages are welcome.

Our wedding day is a celebration of love, laughter, and togetherness. To help us create a joyful and inclusive atmosphere, we kindly ask that you leave political conversations at home. Your presence, smiles, and positive energy are the only things we need. Thank you for helping us make this a week to remember — for all the right reasons!
